This Week at the Herdic House
A final reminder that we won’t be serving our Blue Plate Special this evening (Wednesday), but have instead postponed it until Thursday, 12/19. But it’ll be delicious when we serve it up tomorrow: a tasty Misty Mountain Farm meatloaf with sweet chipotle glaze, mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. It’s $18 at our House, and $20 to go—but, per usual, our number of to-go orders will be very limited. We’ll hope to see you out tomorrow! But please call for reservations, because our House is already quite crowded—December is really kicking our butts this year…
And as for the rest of this final week before Christmas, our House is full to the rafters! We’re booked up for our final three lunches this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and dinners on Friday and Saturday are just about booked as well, aside from later tables. (What a hectic but wonderful time of year this is!) We won’t be listing any features for this weekend, since we don’t have any seats left, but we’re looking forward to celebrating the holiday season this week and next with all the folks making their way to the Herdic House for a meal, to purchase a gift certificate or a mug, or just to grab a drink and toast this fabulous end to the year—after all, who knows what 2025 might bring?
If you’re still frantically searching for gifts for the loved ones on your list (ahem: like Liz), the Herdic will have gift certificates available for purchase on our website right up until Christmas Day, as well as mugs and Herdic prints at our House until Saturday evening. But don’t forget about all of our other wonderful local businesses: Liz and fam have already spent a bundle at the new and awesome Mulberry Moose toy store and at our old Friend Otto Bookstore, but they still have ample stock for other last-minute shoppers—not to mention the great people at Lang’s Chocolates, Gustonian Gifts, Le Chocolat, Patinaz, Gallina’s, Nomad Distillery, Kinley’s Jewelers, the Clothier…and we could go on. Dollars spent locally go even further in our community—and help make certain we have great local stores for years to come!
Whether you’re celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, the Solstice or any of the constellation of other holidays that dot December like the stars in the Milky Way, may your celebrations be sweet, and filled with the love of family, friends and even strangers—and may you take that love and light out into the world with you as well. When we close for the evening on the longest night of the year this Saturday, we won’t reopen until December 26, since we and our employees are taking December 25 to relax and enjoy the company of those dear to us. But we’ll be seeing plenty of friends next week and on New Years’ Eve, before we close for our long winter’s nap on January 1…
